Batching and Mixing

small batch plant
Posted by Mike from League City, TX, US on December 16, 2006

I will be starting a home building project with multiple slabs and long drive’s. using about 1500yds of concret and with a possibilty of using another 1500yds within a year. I was considering buying a used smalll concrtete plant and buying the materials whole sale and making my own concrete on site. Do you think it would be finacially benifefical to do this? I have done major projects like this in the past but have not made my own concrete.

The return on investment in a complete state-of-the-art plant that will match the product your ready mix supplier provides you is probably in the range of 25,000 to 50,000 cubic yards per year.

Your own mixer trucks and drivers + your own boom pump with operator would be worth investigating first--then the plant.
